What can I say about my main man G. Fletchy (AKA Graham Fletcher)? He has a great website full of math videos, conference presentations, and math tasks. My favorite part of his site is his progression video series. I strongly recommend these videos for everyone. Start with addition/subtract, followed by multiplcation and finish it off with division. It is very eye opening!

What's up with these new fandangled maths?? Why can't we just do it the "regular" way?
We've come a long way in our way of thinking when it comes to teaching and learning. In terms of math, we know that just repeating a procedure 45 times doesn't actually mean we have learned anything (even if I can do it 45 times). In order to grow in our mathematical abilities, and succeed at the highest levels of mathematics, we need to have a strong foundation in numeracy, and connect it to other areas of mathematics along the way. Below are two examples of how we are teaching math better in classrooms today.
